SOLAR ONE

Solar One is a new type of interstellar spacecraft that combines beamed-powered propulsion, electromagnetic propulsion, and nuclear fusion.

The spacecraft could be able to reach 30% the speed of light.

The main challenges are:

• Build a system of mirrors to use sunlight for the acceleration. 

• Reduce the weight of the on-board reactor and laser.

• Protect the spacecraft from dust and cosmic rays.

• Achieve cryo-sleep and artificial gravity.
